Motus Monograph in Turin

The artist monograph of the 27th edition of the Festival delle Colline Torinesi was dedicated to Motus.

Our show MDLSX, inspired by a famous novel and the life of the performer Silvia Calderoni herself, was staged at Teatro Astra (30 and 31 October). Always embodied by Silvia, was also staged a performance “solo” dedicated to the figure of Hecuba You Were Nothing But Wind (Fondazione Merz, 1 and 2 November). This performance is freely derived from Tutto brucia, crossing over to Euripides’ tragedy, the focus shifts to the fury and desperation of Hecuba, in the post-human scenario of a “world to come”, where the howls of this fierce woman echo. Two days later, the new Motus performance with Stefania Tansini, Of the nightingale I envy the fatedebuted at Fondazione Merz on November 4, 5 and 6.
It is a focus on the figure of Cassandra and her becoming a bird: in the Oresteia, her talent as a prophetess is brought back to the animal sphere, the chorus reiterates that the girl is invaded by the god and looks like a nightingale…
It is co-produced with the Festival delle Colline Torinesi and Fondazione TPE.

During the week, were also organised several video screenings of our work in collaboration with the Museo Nazionale del Cinema (Cinema Massimo, Room 3, from 31 October to 6 November), and from 1 to 6 November, the Screening Room of the Fondazione Merz which hosted a film-loop of short videos, performance fragments, interviews and documents from the early 1990s of the company.

Lastly, in the context of The Others Art Fair at TorinoEsposizioni (Pavilion 3 from 3 to 6 November), Motus exhibited a photographic installation from the company’s 31 years of history, to be “dispersed” among the fair’s visitors, while they last. A farewell to the 10,000 moments lived and reproduced on paper, from which Motus separated itself by choosing the formula of the fetishistic gift/souvenir that everyone could put in their pocket and take elsewhere.
